The 13th ODC Training Course on Ocean Model and Ecosystem Model

The 21st century is the century of digital ocean, and the representation, storage, and processing of ocean data are the core foundation for the development of digital ocean. This training course aims to focused program that equips young students with the requisite knowledge and skills to understand and model these processes accurately. Under this background, the ODC center has planned the 13th training course on Ocean Model and Ecosystem Model in Qingdao during 8-13 July 2024.
 
As the first center under the framework of UNESCO/IOC-RTRCs, the ODC Center have carried out serious training courses, which are featured with enough practical exercises, comfortable discussions within group and outside, and intensive interactions among trainees and experts. Besides, this training course will design more interesting activities such as brainstorming, designing project proposals. These activities will ensure that trainees improve their ability in modeling the ocean ecosystem.

Application and Selection
(1) How to apply

There is no fee charged for application and participation. Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply online through the online application system. Note that if the system does not work in some regions, please contact the ODC center for offline application. The application should be done no later than 30 April 2024.

(2)  Selection Criteria

The information filled in the application will be of great help for the selection process. A selection committee will be set-up with a view to select the most qualified early career scientists among applications to attend this training course. The selection process will be done according to the following criteria.

The educational background and/or work experience should be closely related to the topic of the training course.

The current or planned research activities you filled in application should related to the themes of the course.

For a balanced geographical distribution of the trainees, there will be an overall evaluation within the same country, or within the same affiliation.

The financial assistance will be considered mainly from the developing countries.

There will be a slight balance of male and female.

A limited number of grants are available to support the attendance of selected participants, with priority given to participants from developing countries. You will be asked to identify your financial request in the application system. The selection committee will evaluate the application form to decide who will receive the financial assistance.
 

Working Language
The course will be conducted in English.
