On 9 September, the 15th UNESCO/IOC-ODC Training Course on Ocean Dynamics and Ocean Models turned to the topic of operational ocean forecasting. The full-day programme combined a training lecture with practice, introducing trainees to the foundations and working considerations of forecasting services for the ocean. Dr. Joseph Kojo Ansong led the module “An Introduction to Operational Ocean Forecasting.” Through the lecture and practical sessions, trainees considered how ocean observations, numerical models, and forecasting workflows work together to support timely information for marine applications.   The day concluded with reports from Group 5. The presentations connected the day’s topic with trainees’ own research interests and encouraged further exchange among the international participants.
