Dr. Yanfei Xiang gave lectures during the 15th ODC training courses

On 8 September, the 15th UNESCO/IOC-ODC Training Course on Ocean Dynamics and Ocean Models focused on “Data Assimilation Methods Based on Deep Representation Learning for Fusing Multi-Source Heterogeneous Observations.” The full-day module combined lectures with guided training practice.

Dr. Yanfei Xiang introduced the principles and application of deep representation learning in data assimilation, with emphasis on integrating observations from different sources and with different characteristics. Trainees followed the practical component to strengthen their understanding of the method and its potential value for ocean modelling and analysis.
In the afternoon, it comes the trainee reports from Group 4. They gave share research backgrounds, exchange ideas, and identify possible directions for cooperation.
