During 17-20 April 2017, 10th WESTPAC International Scientific Conference entitled "Advancing Ocean Knowledge, Fostering Sustainable Development: from the Indo-Pacific to the Globe" was successfully held in Qingdao, China. More than 600 representatives from 22 WESTPAC member countries and other international organizations participated in this conference. This conference was hosted by State Oceanic Administration (SOA) and co-organized by the First Institute of Oceanography (FIO) and the secretariat of WESTPAC. This conference contained 4 Sub-themes: “Understanding Ocean Processes and Climate in the Indo-pacific,” “Ensuring Marine Biodiversity, Food Safety, and Security”, “Maintenance of Ocean Health” and “Enhancing Knowledge of Cross-Cutting and Emerging Issues.”
