The 10th UNESCO/IOC-RTRC-ODC Training Course on Regional Application of Coupled Climate Models
13-22 July 2020, Qingdao China

This training course will focus on Regional Application of Coupled Climate ModelsIn order to mark the 10th anniversary of the ODC Center, the training will consist of two parts. During the first two days, a workshop will take place on the subject of Modeling the Ocean and Climate. After that, the training course on Regional Application of Coupled Climate Models will be held. The training will cover various topics including the state-of-the-art coupled climate models, regional climate analysis and hand-on practices, as well as related frontier researches.

  -  Workshop on Modeling the Ocean and Climate (13-14 July 2020)Ocean dynamics and air-sea interactions, Global and regional ocean models and Coupled climate system models
  -  Training Course on Regional Application of Coupled Climate Models (15-22 July 2020):  Introduction of global climate system model, Development in regional climate system model, Regional air-sea interactions, Prediction and projection of regional climate

This training course will be organized together with the CLIVAR Summer School in Qingdao, China.

  -  UNESCO/IOC ODC Training Course on  Regional Application of Coupled Climate Models, 13-22 July 2020

Working Language
The courses will be conducted in English.

Trainees
Trainees will be selected mainly from WESTPAC member states with priority given to those young scientists and junior technical staff who have experience in studying the coupled climate models and/or have doctoral degrees in related major. The applicants should have a good command of English.

Application
Applicants are encouraged to apply online through the online application system. If the system does not work in some regions, the offline application form could be used. Both the online and offline application should be done no later than 27 March 2020.
All applicants will be informed of the final selection result no later than 10 April 2020. A certain number of self-funded applicants will be also selected to take part in this training course. Selected trainees need to send a copy of your passport to us as early as possible, preferably no later than 30 April 2020
 
Grants
A limited number of grants are available to support the attendance of selected participants, with priority given to participants from developing countries. There is no registration fee. A selection committee will be set-up with a view to selecting the most qualified early career scientists among applications to receive financial assistance. You will be asked to identify your financial request in the registration system. The information filled in the application will be of great help for the selection process.
 
Visa
Selected trainees traveling to China probably need to apply for the entry visa in accordance with relevant laws and regulations. Please confirm with the Chinese Embassy/Consulate in your country and apply for it as soon as possible. The local organization will be glad to assist you upon your request.
