The 10th ODC Training Course on Regional Application of Coupled Climate Models

The 10th training course in 2021 will focus on Regional Application of Coupled Climate Models. Given the prolonged influence of COVID-19 and the health of participants, the training will be conducted through the hybrid model of online and onsite participation within two-week time to make sure the successful implementation of the training activities.
 
Objectives and Scope of the Training Course
This training course is designed to develop the capacity of member states, who are involved in the research of ocean and climate, in the Western Pacific and adjacent areas. The 10th training course aims to:
 - Provide basic and advanced courses as well as hands-on practices on coupled climate models for young scientists, and improve their capabilities to utilize the simulation and  predition products;
 - Share the state-of-the-art researches, methods and achievements on regional climate model, and promote interactions among experts and young scientists;
 - Strengthen and scale up a network of early career professionals, particularly in the Western Pacific region, on ocean dynamics and climate; and
 - Further enhance regional coordination and explore the opportunities of collaborative research to respond to the call of Decade Actions.

Trainees
Trainees will be selected mainly from WESTPAC member states with priority given to those young scientists and junior technical staff who have experience in studying the ocean and climate and/or have doctoral degrees in related major, and is open to the global community interested to join the network or develop collaborations. Meanwhile, the number of participants will be limited within 50 to ensure the efficiency and management of the training process. The applicants should have a good command of English.
 
Application and Financial Assistance
Applicants are encouraged to apply online through the online application system. If the system does not work in some regions, the offline application form could be used. A limited number of grants are available to support the attendance of selected onsite participants. Both the online and offline application should be done no later than 20 April 2021.
 
Working Language
The courses will be conducted in English.
